Solesbury and Worthy won't be having a dry January this year, cocktails beckon in this, one of our latest lifestyle product shots for Brissi's Home and Lifestyle stores in London...
When creating a lifestyle product image lighting is crucial in making or breaking a good photograph. By playing with different types of light you can create a story and draw the viewer into the image adding drama and narrative. As well as using natural light we infilled with artificial daylight to create pools of light to enhance and accentuate the folds of the fabric as well as the silver and glassware,
we then added close-up candlelight as a way of enhancing the sparkle and shimmer from the hanging crystals and gold leaf background. We wanted to create a warm decadent, luxurious scene.
Our inspiration started with the images you see in the Dutch Masters still life paintings, showing extravagant feasts and scenes of opulence, with many layers of texture and infinite details. We wanted to create an inviting scenario that begs the viewer to come and join the party, a scene filled with soft fabrics and glittering materials and textures topped with luxurious food and drink, everything dressed to hint at a party in mid flow. We deliberatley chose a limited palette of blues and golds to compliment the simplicity of the glass and silverware and also to hint at colours associated with Renaissance Art.
We were briefed by our client to include as much of their product as possible in this photo, we used one of their large console tables layered with velvet fabrics and flowers and laden with luxurious in house products being used as intended, or in other inspirational ways - jelly moulds as vessels for delicacies and used glass candles as foliage pots...
Happy New Year...
